The andalucian golfer Miguel Presyler (images) won the thrid International Senior Amateur Strokeplay tournament for men in an intense third round at the beautifull sea-side golf course of Costa Ballena . His principle rival during the tournament, the Swedish Tomas Persson, was disqualified before he started his round. This of course made Preysler's mission a lot easier to win the tournament again.

The final day started with the Spanish and Swedish player tied at the first place, an exiting day was to be expected. Nevertheless, Tomas Persson announced the committee that during his second round he played with 15 clubs in his bag! Sad but true, this disqualified him automatically.

Nevertheless, the final round wasn't without emotion, as the Irish golfer Hugh Brendan Smyth along with the English golfer Glyn Rees put pressure on leader Miguel Preysler, who signed his worse card of the tournament. His 77 shots and his solid play during the last few holes avoided unpleasant surprises and made him the only Spanish player ever to lift the trophy! (Preysler also won in 2004 and 2005!).

Before this Individual Strokeplay Tournament, the Doubles were plyed but unfortantely the second round was suspended because of intesive rain on Costa Ballena. The Irish golfers Hugh Brendan Smyth and Maurice Kelly won the tournament afte the first round.
