After a break because of the poor weather the Friday Escapes resumed at Villaueva on Friday 8th January. A cloudless sky but cold and windy day welcomed the 11 hardy players. The course was in its usual excellent condition with the greens having been cut earlier in the morning although evidence of the recent heavy rains was noted on some, but by no means all, of the fairways by the heavy underfoot conditions. In order to speed up the pace of play a two ball and three three balls were nominated by a draw of the cards. The best front nine went to Derek Roach with an excellent 17 points closely followe by Jim Adams and Trevor with 16 each. The back nine was led by Jim Adams with 20 points (36 in total) largely down to some excellent putting and enabling him to snatch victory from Derek who still scored an excellent 18 points (35 in total). Trevor faltered but still held on to third spot with 29 points.

Mike Ryan led the post match celebrations in the club house - he wasn't driving, need I say more!! The round only took three and a half hours but it was around three hours later before the hospitable club house could close up for the evening. We would still welcome other society members to join us.
