The 29/1 saw us return to Campano under a cloudless sky although the temperature was a little low with a cooling northerly wind. Once more the heavy rains we have experienced during the last two months played their part as the underfoot conditions meant the course played very long once more. The front nine requires a degree of accuracy and this combined with the soft fairways impacted across the field of twelve with eight of them 27 points or under! Leading the way were the Adams family with winner Jim recording 34 points with a remarkable 18 points over the final seven holes. This run of points ensured that Marilyn missed out on her first Friday Escape victory for over a year. Her 32 points reflected a welcome return to form built upon a much improved short game - her UK coach Matfen Hall based JJ Vallelly would have approved. Marilyn shared second spot with last week's winner Mike Ryan. Afterwards the members enjoyed the hospitality of Jon and Karin Cox at their nearby home, thanks to them.
