The first round of the Second Stage of the Qualifying School has been played and only 78 places for 309 players are available at next week's Qualifying Scool Final Stage in the north of Spain. On 4 courses in Cádiz namely Arcos Gardens, Costa Ballena, Sherry Golf and Montenmedio, profesionals from all over the world are competing for a tour card.

Santiago Luna, the most experienced player with over 500 European Tour appearances and winner of the Madeira Island Open in 1995 shot a magnificant 66 (-6) on Arcos Gardens. At Montenmedio G&CC there was a three-way tie at the top, as Andreas Högberg (SWE), the Norwegian amateur Anders Kristiansen and Guy Woodman (UK) all shot rounds of 67.

The lowest and best round of the first day was shot by young Jordi Pinto Garcia from Spain who just truned professional this year. Pinot played on Costa Ballena (Rota) and made 6 birdies and 2 eagles!!! This put himself on a 4 shot lead position.It seems that Costa Ballena played fairly easy yesterday. Let's hope on some wind so it's not only a putting competition....

The best round on Sherry Golf was played by Clodomiro Carranza form Argentina, he shot a 6 under par for 66.

Enjoy Cadiz Golf caddied on Sherry Golf for David Higgins from the beautifull links course Waterville in Ireland. David struggled a bit on the chipping but still shot a decent 73 (+1) leaving himself on the tied 25th place. The are only 19 spots available on Sherry so we have some work to do tomorrow.
